Mr & Mrs Callaway & Their Rustic New Year Wedding At Sopley Mill

Yesterday was my first wedding of the year and wow what a wedding it was! I started off by heading to bride Karen's house for the bridal prep, which was mostly girls looking very glam whilst sitting in their pj's eating pancakes :)

I then went on to Sopley Mill where groom Matthew was ready and waiting for guests to arrive for their intimate rustic ceremony. Sopley Mill really still is one of my favourite venues, having photographed a lot there in 2015, it's charm and rustic décor makes the perfect setting for any wedding.

The ceremony was just beautiful with delicate lighting and a blue and silver winter colour scheme. The rain managed to hold off too as we got through our wedding checklist of photographs outside and then later on to a hot chocolate bar, champagne and wood burning fire inside. Heartfelt speeches and a few shapes on the dancefloor later it was time to cut the cake and to party the rest of the night away as husband and wife.

Sparkle Pop Mail - The Snail Mail Revolution

 

 
Yesterday after searching through some wonderful colourful posts on instagram, I came across a rather exciting and new concept to me :) Snail mail!

I sat there looking at these incredibly bright bursts of confetti, elaborate papers covered in exquisite calligraphy, perfectly wrapped packages with vintage stamps and wondered what was I missing?! What are all the hashtags about?  #snailmail #confetticourrier and why?

Well it's a new revelation that is taking the US by storm thanks to a lady named @paytonfrank and it's basically an excuse to spend a little time getting creative! Just my cup of tea.

It's in essence, a mail swap...  once a month you create something beautiful, be it an illustration, a hand painted quote, postcard, label, tag... the list is endless. You bundle it up beautifully with some goodies that all match into a theme or particular colour scheme and send it to your assigned sparkle pop mail buddy by the 20th of each month.

In return you get a surprise in the mail from someone sending you your very own sparkle pop mail package too :)

2016 Ready To Sparkle & Dream - First post of the year!

Firstly I'd like to start by saying a huge thank you to everyone I crossed paths with in 2015.
I was lucky enough to be invited to some amazingly beautiful weddings and also captured some precious newborn moments.

My work was featured in both Cosmopolitan, FAE Magazine, shown on BBC News and in my local paper the Bournemouth Echo. I've certainly been busy editing, brushing up on my photoshop and business skills too.

So what do I want to achieve this year? Hmm what a question... 

I guess like any new year, you start at the beginning.

So I'd like to go back to the dream, my dream. A beautiful creative studio just for me with a booming business to match!

When I first started as a photographer this was what I wanted to set out to acheive and certainly nothing has changed :)

 I still dream of this beautiful open space for me to call my office and can imagine myself sat there thinking up ideas for shoots and editing beautiful bridal photos on a sparkling white Mac with an Instagram worthy collection of art and books surrounding me.

I realise though now that the space is nothing without the work and inspiration to fill it however, so this year I'm planning on working hard to continue creating my name, my brand and my passion... Hoping the space will present itself soon after.

 'When the student is ready, the teacher will appear' 

In the meantime feast your eyes on a little piece of my dream!
